In the Louvre Abu Dhabi exhibition occidental and oriental arts converge towards a shared interest: Calligraphy. Exported from Asia to Europe, calligraphy is assimilated, then, transformed, and analysed by many artists such as André Masson and Mark Tobey. Today, calligraphy partakes in a modern, universal language, understood by everyone.
For this exhibition, the Gallery lends André Masson Bison, 1944 and four works by Mark Tobey: Eastern Imprint, Untitled, and City from 1954, and Untitled, 1959.
