Bêtes de Scène

Miguel Branco

Fondation Villa Datris, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, France

The vital energy of the animal world and its infinite diversity is an extraordinary source of inspiration, which opens up to an enchanted universe, constantly renewed.

Between carefreeness and solemnity, this fascination for animals mobilizes artists to innovate, thus giving rise to reflection, indignation, and wonder.

In a kind of « biomimicry », the animal is perceived as a mirror of the human being and his time. Source of inspiration and fascination, myth and symbole, it becomes an ecological argument that paves the way to a criticism of society […].

For this exhibition, the gallery lends Untitled (Dodo), from Miguel Branco, a bird species extinct today.
