Wind Caravan

Susumu Shingu

MUDAM, Luxembourg

For over thirty years, Susumu Shingu has been creating sculptures that move by the natural forces of wind and the water. The richness and depth of natural energy continually stimulates his imagination and creativity. In his continuous quest to discover our planet earth, with its vital air and water, Susumu Shingu came up with the idea to resort to light nomad sculptures, easy to move around to explore places where he had never been before. Often remote places with strong winds and devoid of electricity, thus ideal to conduct research on the natural energies of the earth.
The Wind Caravan journey began in Japan in 2000, then moved to New Zealand, Finland, Morocco, Mongolia, and ended in Brazil in 2001.
Wind Caravan, composed of a group of twenty-one sculptures, is displayed in Dräi Eechelen Park.
