L’arbre dans l’art contemporain

Evi Keller

Musée de l'Eau, Pont-en-Royans

Curator of the exhibition: Paul Ardenne

Forests are disappearing massively in the greatest indifference.” An incomprehensible observation for the botanist and designer Francis Hallé and artists Vincent Lajarige and Mark Alsterlind, at the initiative of the association and the exhibition Forest Art Project to be seen at the Museum of Water, the Carmelite Convent in Beauvoir-en-Royans and the Grand Séchoir in Vinay.

The scenography invites to enter an imaginary forest, composed of more than 100 works of art by thirty-six artists from around the world. Inspired by their own encounter with this abundant nature, the artists transport us into their interpretation and sensitivity of the forest. The plurality of mediums – drawing, painting, wool, driftwood, photography, video – reflects the richness of a biodiversity that is urgent to preserve. A stroll to live with the mind, eyes and ears wide open thanks to the sound recordings from tropical forests, broadcast in parallel to the exhibition…
