The Uruguayan artist was offered an important solo exhibition at the gallery in January 1931. Visited by Max Beckmann and other artists connected with the “Cercle et Carré” movement which he helped to create, such as Mondrian and Freundlich, it provoked the following commentary of Paul Sentenac in “Renaissance, février 1931”: “Torres-García deserved to have the success in Paris that he has already known in other Latin capitals of the New World.
