André Lanskoy’s sole monographic exhibition at the gallery took place in May 1944, under the Occupation and its artistic censorship, at a time when abstraction was considered as a “degenerate art”. The paintings and watercolors presented revealed the artist’s decomposition of interior scenes through color and forms. This exhibition marked the first encounter of Lanskoy with his compatriot Nicolas de Staël.
