Susumu Shingu’s Genki-nobori,
in the main courtyard of the Hôtel de la Marine,
2 Place de la Concorde, Paris 8th arrondissement.
June 24–August 24, 2026
In collaboration with La Source Garouste and the gallery.
Susumu Shingu created the Genki-nobori art project following the devastating 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. These Genki-nobori reinterpret traditional Japanese carp-shaped wind socks. On the white fabric of these long banners fluttering like kites, drawings and sometimes words are inscribed—messages of hope entrusted to the wind.
Between February and May 2026, around a hundred children facing social, academic, or family challenges participated in workshops organized by La Source Garouste and designed 100 Genki-nobori, exhibited from June 6 to 20 in Ducontenia Park in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, from June 24 to August 24 in the Cour d’Honneur of the Hôtel de la Marine in Paris, from September 3 to 30 at Château La Coste near Aix-en-Provence, from October 10 to 25 at the Domaine de Villarceaux in the Vexin region, and from October 10 to November 10, 2026, in the Bec de la Vallée cove in Dinard, to mark the start of the Route du Rhum.
