In partnership with the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris / Paris Musées, the Fondation de l’Hermitage is devoting a major retrospective to Nicolas de Staël (1914-1955), a key figure on the post-war art scene. The exhibition brings together a selection of around 100 paintings, drawings and notebooks from numerous public and private, Swiss, European and international collections. Alongside the emblematic Parc des Princes (1952), it presents an important group of works that have rarely, if ever, been exhibited, and offers a new perspective on the artist’s work, shedding light on certain little-known aspects of his career.
