Les Yeux du Ciel by artist architect-urban planner Antoine GRUMBACH is presented as part of the exhibition Métro! Greater Paris on the move, with a focus on the recycling of excavated earth.
Métro! Greater Paris on the move
The huge construction site currently underway for the Grand Paris express offers an exceptional opportunity to reconsider mobility on the scale of a territory – that of a metropolis of 12 million inhabitants. With its double loop and 4 new metro lines, the network under construction will irrigate territories, create new hubs and new types of public buildings, in particular to improve suburb-to-suburb travel: an infrastructure that gives substance to the Greater Paris whose contours have been constantly redrawn over the last century. Sixty-eight new “stations” in all, where architects and artists have worked together to design a place to serve local residents.
The aim of this exhibition is to take an interest in both mobility and urbanity, combining the history of technology, visionary projects and the fictional world of the metro, projecting visitors into a new mental map of Greater Paris. The flowing course of the exhibition showcases French genius in the face of the contemporary challenges of the resilient city and the ecological transition.
