I’m a Lost Giant in a Burnt Forest

Rui Moreira

MUDAM, Luxembourg

Clément Minighetti, general curator at the Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean – MUDAM in Luxembourg, invites Portuguese artist Rui Moreira for a solo show. The show will feature seminal drawings, previously shown at the gallery for the exhibitions Inner Monsoon (2010) and La Nuit (May-July, 2014). It will be the most ambitious exhibition presenting Rui Moreira’s works. Throughout 350 m2 of space, drawings from 2007 until nowadays will be reunited. The show will be the occasion to discover the richness of the artist’s work, inspired by an inner experience and yet reflective upon the conflicts of the contemporary world. This position is ingeniously depicted in the drawing I am a Lost Giant in a Burnt Forest, which is also the title chosen by the curator of the MUDAM. Indeed, the contemporary world is more and more mechanized and follows an unbridled pace. On the contrary, Rui Moreira has chosen an artistic approach based on a long and slow meticulous work. The artist excels in the delicacy and richness of his drawing technique. Manually, almost ritually, executed, his drawings are rich in details and inspired from the artist’s travels.
