Fiac Hors les murs

Underground Flowers

Yang Jiechang

National Museum of Natural History, Paris, France

As part of FIAC Hors-les-murs program, the Galerie Jeanne Bucher Jaeger invites you to discover the work of Yang Jiechang, Underground Flowers, presented at Jardin des Plantes, Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, from October 20th to November 10th 2015. After the great success of this installation at the Biennale of Lyon in 2009, the work has been shown in the exhibition La Chine Ardente – Sculptures monumentales contemporaines in Belgium, as part of Mons 2015 – European Capital of Culture. It brings together a hundred human scale skeletons dismembered, made of blue and white porcelain. Presented in wooden crates, the bones embody a reflection on the passing of time and the cruelty of political regimes.
