The Museum of St Etienne, France, presents an exhibition of recent works by American sculptor Paul Wallach. Some of the works have specifically been designed for the museum.

The title of the exhibition – also the title of one of the large sculptures – seems to condense the entire creative process of Paul Wallach.

Created step by step, Wallach’s sculptures result from assembling diverse materials, in a perpetual dialogue with his creation. His works offer a subtil and precise equilibrium which integrates emptyness as an essential element in its stability as well as the multiple perspectives that compose it.

The game of forms and shadows, the tension between the apparent fragility of the sculptures and their strong presence, the halo effect surrounding them provoked by light – all these elements change the conventionnal vision and invite to adopt different point of views to fully grasp all their subtleties.
