After the 2^nd World War, Wilfrid Moser (1914-1997) stayed in Paris where he was close to the abstract expressionnists. But in 1975, he went back to a more figurative expression. He focused his attention on two subjects: undergrowth and rocks – inspired by his journey to Carrare’s quarries of white marble. These rocks recall images from the past where death is premonitory. On the other hand, the series of his brilliant undergrowth drawings evokes the awakening to a new life. At the heart of the Jura Mountains, the cloister of the Monastery of Schönthal invites the visitor to admire Wilfrid Moser’s œuvre with new eyes.

Some of these drawings are currently presented in our Marais Space (7 rue de Saintonge, Paris 3) until November 29 for the exhibition Moser, l’insoumis organised in the occasion of the 100^th anniversary of his birth.
