Miguel Branco

Exposition personnelle

Sala do Veado

National Museum of Natural History, Lisbonne, Portugal

The “Sala do Veado”, which means “Deer Hall” in Portuguese, owes its name to the skull of a giant deer that was shown there before the fire that destroyed the National Museum of Natural History in 1978. Since the 1990s, the Sala do Veado hosts temporary exhibitions of contemporary art. Over the years, it has become a renowed place to discover the Portuguese artistic scene.

Miguel Branco’s exhibition is a tribute to this place and its history. Animal painting is a repeating pattern in the artist’s work. He draws his inspiration from Georges Stubbs or Teniers – among others. Presented until June 28, the show features a selection of seminal works from 2005 until today.
